Roman paintings

Amethyst and Ruby classes have been working with Ann and Carina to make Roman style  portraits. The children said they found it quite tricky to paint like the Romans did. They made images on paper, making several 'drafts' before the final images.
Next they mixed their own paints using natural pigments like blackberries, spices, beetroot, clay and charcoal. Finally the portraits were painted onto plaster roundels.
