Transformation

Year 4 children have been basing some of  their learning around the book called The Green Ship during the spring term. Its a book set in an imaginary world. The children went into their classroom to find a green jungle-like world. They have used the book to support their learning about writing stories. They also worked in class to make green ship layered, 3-D type images.

First they made images of ships and then they transformed them by adding an overlay on tracing paper with green leafy and flowery plant images.
The children continued thinking about transformations as they learned about how natural disasters can dramatically change an environment. They used the same techniques of layering their artworks to make powerful images of before and after destruction of Japan after the tsunami. You can look at the tsunami images on display along the junior stairs.
